Now Bloomberg is reporting that AT&T and the Department of Justice are deep in talks about how AT&T can make this deal meet anti-trust rules.
The anti-trust laws are seen by many as the main holdup for the AT&T and Time Warner merger. To address this it is reported that the Department of Justice has also asked several state attorneys general to participate in the talks. This seems to be an effort to make sure a deal reached here will be backed by states that may object.
There are still other hurdles to jump as the merger between Time Warner and AT&T would bring channels such as HBO, CNN, and TNT to the company that also owns DIRECTV and DIRECTV NOW. Many wonder if this would give AT&T an unfair advantage over other services such as Dish and Sling TV.
The deal is likely still far from sealed, because AT&T has several more regulatory issues to be clear before it can close the deal and buy Time Warner.
