AT&T and Cox Reach a Retransmission Deal Just in Time for the Super Bowl

AT&T and Cox have reached a multi-year agreement to keep Cox Media Group stations on DirecTV and AT&T TV. The agreement comes just in time for customers to watch Super Bowl LV on their local CBS station in affected markets.

The channels were dropped last week when the two companies were unable to reach an agreement before the deadline of midnight on February 2, leading AT&T and the American Television Alliance to accuse Cox of using this weekend’s game to get more money from AT&T.

“This latest contrived blackout holding such an important national event like the Super Bowl hostage demonstrates how broadcasters like Cox Media Group intentionally cause maximum disruption and harm for consumers in order to extract exorbitant fees,” said ATVA spokeswoman Jessica Kendust.

Today, the two companies came to an agreement and restored the channels for all affected DirecTV and AT&T TV customers. The retransmission agreement includes all Cox Media Group owned stations in 20 markets including:
