AT&T Adding Hotspot Data for Devices, Delivery Options for Stores

ATT logoThis week, AT&T updated its response to the COVID-19 pandemic, adding more mobile hotspot data on certain plans, and more delivery options for those making purchases. The moves follow recent announcements that the company would waive wireless overage charges for 60 days and close 40 percent of its retail stores.

In a recent blog post, AT&T detailed the mobile hotspot changes, stating that monthly limits will increase by 15GB for each line if they’re on an unlimited plan that includes monthly tethering. So Unlimited Elite subscribers, who normally get 30GB per line would see that bump up to 45GB.

Meanwhile, the company also said it’s adding free shipping to device orders and waiving or crediting activation, upgrade, and restocking fees. Beyond that, customers at retail store locations can use curb-side pick up to avoid coming into the store to receive their purchases. Customers in some areas may also be eligible for doorstep delivery and what the company calls “virtual setup” — an attempt by AT&T to recreate the in-store experience at a safe social distance.

We’ll keep a close eye on AT&T and other companies as they continue to update their promotions and policies amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
