AT&T continued to expand its home internet service in the second quarter of 2026, adding substantial numbers of new customers to its fiber and fixed wireless internet offerings. The telecommunications giant reported 367,000 net additions for fiber internet services and 279,000 for its 5G Home Internet product, known as AT&T Internet Air. These gains contributed to a total of 646,000 net additions across consumer and business advanced connectivity internet services, marking a record quarter for combined fiber and fixed wireless growth.

This performance underscores the success of the company’s investment-led strategy, which emphasizes expanding high-speed networks to meet rising demand for reliable broadband. Fiber additions helped drive service revenue growth in the advanced connectivity segment, which reached $23.5 billion for the quarter, an increase of 5.1 percent year over year. Operating income for the segment climbed to $7.3 billion, reflecting a 20.3 percent improvement, while EBITDA rose 8.0 percent to $12.0 billion. These metrics highlight improving profitability as the company scales its next-generation infrastructure.

AT&T has aggressively built out its fiber footprint, passing more than 1 million additional locations with fiber during the period. The total now stands at 38.6 million locations, positioning the company on track to exceed 40 million by the end of 2026 and reach more than 60 million by 2030. This expansion includes organic growth in its traditional regions as well as contributions from strategic acquisitions, such as the integration of fiber assets that enhance coverage in new markets. The push into fiber addresses long-term shifts away from legacy copper networks, enabling multi-gigabit speeds that support streaming, remote work, gaming, and emerging technologies like smart home devices.

The 5G Home Internet business also demonstrated strong momentum. Fixed wireless access provides a flexible alternative in areas where fiber deployment is still underway, delivering competitive speeds over the company’s nationwide 5G network. The 279,000 net additions in the quarter reflect growing consumer preference for this option, particularly in suburban and rural markets. Together with fiber, these services now reach a significant portion of U.S. households, with advanced home internet revenues surging 27.3 percent year over year to nearly $2.9 billion.

Convergence remains a key driver of value. Approximately 42.5 percent of households subscribing to AT&T’s advanced home internet services also use the company’s wireless offerings. This bundling strategy enhances customer retention and boosts overall revenue per user while simplifying service for consumers. The company added 432,000 postpaid phone net additions in the quarter, contributing to more than 1 million total advanced connectivity customer gains when including wireless subscribers. Postpaid phone churn stayed low at 0.86 percent, indicating solid loyalty amid competitive pressures.

On a consolidated basis, AT&T reported total revenues of $31.6 billion, up 2.3 percent from the prior year. Adjusted earnings per share reached $0.65, and free cash flow totaled $4.7 billion. The company reiterated its full-year 2026 guidance across key financial metrics and highlighted plans for accelerated share repurchases. Capital investments continue to focus on network modernization, spectrum deployment, and fiber construction to sustain long-term growth.

The second-quarter performance positions AT&T favorably for sustained leadership in home internet. By prioritizing investments in fiber and 5G infrastructure, the company aims to capture market share while delivering consistent returns to shareholders. As the digital economy expands, such growth in advanced services will likely play a central role in the telecommunications sector’s future trajectory. Overall customer satisfaction metrics and low churn rates suggest that these network improvements translate into positive real-world experiences for millions of users across the country.
