Are You Eligible for a Free Xfinity Flex?

Comcast is well-aware of the cord cutting phenomenon and while it appears to be partially offsetting its paid TV subscriber losses with increases in internet service signups, the company has explored other ways to keep customers within its fold. Case in point: the Xfinity Flex streaming device. It’s meant to compete with the Rokus and Fire TVs of the world, but since its launch last year, Comcast has been offering its streaming box for the grand total of free. Of course, that offer carries with it some caveats and terms, so if you’ve been wondering whether you’re eligible for a free Xfinity Flex, we’ve got the answer for you.

Who Can Get a Free Flex?

Long story short: You need to be an Xfinity internet subscriber who does not also have Xfinity TV service. But you can’t be on just any internet plan. Comcast says those on prepaid internet plans are not eligible. Same goes for anyone on bulk plans, where your internet service goes through, say, your homeowners or condominium association. Lastly, those on the company’s low-cost Internet Essentials plan can’t score a free Flex.

Beyond those requirements, there are also some terms to consider. First off, if you decide to stop using Flex, you’ll need to return the device to Comcast. Also, you can purchase additional units for other TVs in your home. Each extra Flex costs $5 per month and you’ll need to return those too if you end up canceling your service. And lastly, you can have up to three Flexes on a single account.

If you’re already a Flex user, feel free to let us know what you think of the device in the comments below.
