Apple’s New Netflix Competitor Service Is Reportedly Very Bland

This weekend The Wall Street Journal published a report from inside Apple’s team that is building their new Netflix competitor. According to that team, Apple’s new streaming service will be bland and is being called an “expensive NBC.”

According to Apple’s staff, CEO Tim Cook is trying to keep the content clean with little “gratuitous sex, profanity or violence.” According to reports, Cook personally shot down Apple’s first scripted drama Vital Signs about Dr. Dre after he watched an already-filmed show and was alarmed to see cocaine, an orgy, and drawn guns.

According to reports, Apple wants to keep their programs focused on shows with a broad appeal and family-friendly feel.

There are also reports that Apple’s morning news program show starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon is delayed after issues with an executive producer. Apple also found issues with some of the humor and wanted a more upbeat feel to the show.

Apple is reportedly hoping their service will stand out by being a more family-friendly service than Netflix. For now, only time will tell if this bid will work.
