Apple’s AirPlay 2 is Coming to LG TVs Tomorrow

This week LG announced that they are adding AirPlay 2 to its 2019 line of AI TVs on July 25th, 2019. LG TVs will also be getting Apple’s HomeKit that will allow them to use Siri to control their basic TV functions like power, volume, and source.

“LG remains at the forefront of TV technological innovation because of our never-ending quest to deliver the best home viewing experience,” said Brian Kwon, president LG Mobile Communications and HomeEntertainment companies. “With Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support, we are demonstrating our commitment to offering consumer benefits that go beyond just best-in-class picture quality.”

LG says this update will start on the 25th of July but will continue to slowly roll out to 140 countries over the next few weeks. So your TV may or may not get it this week depending on how widespread the roll out is tomorrow.

Sadly unlike Samsung TVs there will be no iTunes support on 2019 LG TVs. Details are still very thin on this deal and LG has not confirmed what if any older models of LG TVs will be getting AirPlay support.
