Apple Vision Pro Launches Next Month With 3D Disney+ Films and Experiences

The Apple Vision Pro will launch in February with 3D films and Disney+ experiences featuring popular films such as Avatar, Avengers, and Star Wars.

Subscribers can stream the entire Disney+ catalog on Apple Vision Pro with enhanced depth and clarity. Users can watch dozens of Disney films in 3D, including Avatar: The Way of Water, Avengers Endgame, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Elemental, and Encanto

The Apple Vision Pro augmented reality set, which starts at $3,499, lets users rent or purchase most 3D movies through the Store tab on the Apple TV app. Those who have already bought films that include 3D versions, such as Dune, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie, can access those titles from the app through the Apple Vision Pro for no additional cost.

Apple plans to release 150 3D movies for the headset. More titles, including ones available exclusively to Disney+ members, will be announced at a later date.

The Apple Vision Pro launches on February 2. Subscribers can stream the entire Disney+ catalog on Apple Vision Pro, plus Hulu content included in the Disney Bundle subscription.

Users will also be able to transform their virtual viewing space with one of four Disney+ environments, which includes animations and sounds to “make the space feel alive,” Apple said in a statement to Cord Cutters News. Users can select the Disney+ Theater inspired by the historic El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, the Scare Floor from Pixar’s Monsters Inc., Marvel’s Avengers Tower overlooking downtown Manhattan, and the cockpit of Luke Skywalker’s land speeder facing a binary sunset on the planet Tatooine.

Audiences can also find Easter eggs from films and franchises throughout the experience.

“Apple Vision Pro is a revolutionary platform that will bring our fans closer to the characters and stories they love while immersing them more deeply in all that Disney has to offer,” said Disney CEO Bob Iger.

The Apple Vision Pro is Apple’s first 3D mixed reality headset, which Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Greg Joswiak said is “the ultimate entertainment device.” The headset offers 150 3D films and transforms into a virtual home theater. It boasts more pixels (23 million) than a 4K TV for each eye, combined with an advanced Spatial Audio system.

Disney+ on Apple Vision Pro stems from a collaboration between The Walt Disney Company’s technical teams Disney Studio Technology and Disney Entertainment, ESPN Technology, ILM Immersive, and Skywalker Sound. Disney+ environments use the Universal Scene Description format developed by Pixar and incorporate Dolby Vision and Multiview High-Efficiency Video Coding.
