Today, Apple TV+ unleashed the first teaser trailer for the Godzilla-based Monarch: Legacy of Monsters show.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters takes place after Godzilla and the Titans level San Francisco in a thunderous battle from 2014’s Godzilla. The world now knows that gigantic monsters are real. The series follows two siblings treading lightly in their father’s footsteps as they attempt to uncover the family connection to a covert organization called Monarch. As the saga unfolds, secrets long buried spanning three generations come to light.
The series stars Kurt Russell (Deepwater Horizon, Bone Tomahawk), Wyatt Russell (Under the Banner of Heaven, Black Mirror), Anna Sawai (Pachinko, Ninja Assassin), Kiersey Clemons (Praise Petey, Swarm), Ren Watabe (461 Days of Bento), Mari Yamamoto (Kate, Tokyo Vice), Anders Holm (Game Over, Man!, Workaholics), Joe Tippett (Mare of Easttown, Spirited), and Elisa Lasowski (Somers Town, David Bowie: Blackstar).
The ten-episode series premieres worldwide on November 17.
Chris Black and Matt Fraction co-developed and serve as executive producers for the show along with Safehouse Pictures’ Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell. Mairzee Almas, Julian Holmes, Matt Shakman, Andy Goddard, and Hiromi Kamata each direct two episodes. The show is written by Milla Bell-Hart, Andrew Colville, Karl Taro Greenfield, Amanda Overton, Matt Fraction, Al Letson, and Mariko Tamaki.
Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita serve as executive producers for Toho Co., LTD, which licensed the rights of Godzilla to Legendary Entertainment.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters builds off the Legendary Entertainment Monsterverse, home to Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs. Kong, and the upcoming Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. The Monsterverse films total nearly $2 billion in global box offices.
