Apple TV+ Reportedly Has More Subscribers Than Hulu & Disney+

While we’ve all been talking about the fast growth of Disney+, there has been less talk about the subscriber numbers for Apple TV+. Now, one analytics company is saying Apple’s streaming platform may have more subscribers than both Disney+ and Hulu.

The news comes from the Wall Street Journal, in a report that cites the analysts as estimating that Apple TV+ reached 33.6 million subscribers in the last quarter of 2019. That’s higher than the 31.8 million for Hulu and 23.2 estimated for Disney+.

Just like we need to factor in the many subscribers for Disney+ that are receiving a free year with their Verizon Unlimited plans, we should also mention that many Apple TV+ subscribers are receiving a free year after purchasing a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod Touch, or Mac.

Both Disney+ and Apple TV+ launched in November 2019, well into Quarter 4. Disney has commented that they will report on subscriber numbers during their next quarterly earnings call, when we’ll be able to compare the services and find out which  streaming services have been most successful in building their subscriber bases.
