Apple confirmed yesterday that another of its executives, Pete Distad, is leaving the company sometime this month. As the Senior Director of Video, Sports, and Apple TV+, he has been overseeing the day-to-day business, operations, and distribution of the company’s app and streaming services.

Pete Distad joined Apple TV in 2013 leading the hardware product marketing team. Since 2017, he has been in charge of content dealings for Apple TV’s various video businesses and services. He has established deals with Major League Soccer in addition to Major League Baseball. Distad has grown Apple’s video businesses and content libraries globally with TV+, Sports, TV App, transactional, and channels.

Apple announced Jim DeLorenzo will be promoted to Senior Director of Sports Content, who has been with the company since 2020 as the Head of Sports and Video Business. A replacement for Distad’s numerous other responsibilities has yet to be decided.

There has been an unusual number of high-ranking executives leaving Apple recently. Last year, approximately a dozen executives with vital roles related to the day-to-day operations of Apple. At the beginning of this year Peter Stern, Head of Marketing for Apple’s App Store, Music, Wallet, and other services, resigned followed by Vice President of Engineering Michael Abbott in April.

Although there is quite a bit of speculation as to why so many top-level staff members are leaving, there have been no official statements from Apple or its former employees. Apple has been bringing on new people to fill these jobs in addition to reshuffling responsibilities to others within the company. There is no word if more people plan to leave the company.
