Apple Says More Apple TV News is Coming Later This Year (Yeah, It’s Likely a New Apple TV)

Yesterday during the WWDC 2017 event, Apple did not talk much about the Apple TV; however, we did learn that the Apple TV will be getting an Amazon Video app later this summer. Yet the total time on the Apple TV was less than a minute and only about the Amazon Video app.

Even with the Amazon Video announcement we didn’t find out much. We do not know if this will be a full Amazon Video app that allows you to buy movies and TV shows on your Apple TV or if you will only be able to stream videos on the new app.

Although the Apple TV didn’t get a lot of attention at WWDC 2017, Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, did announce that more news will be coming out later this year.

This news is likely the new Apple TV that is expected to be announced this fall for a Winter 2017 release. Reports are that the new Apple TV will offer 4K video bringing it on par with the second generation Fire TV, Roku Ultra, Roku Premiere, and the older Roku 4. Though it has also been reported there will be no HDR support something both Roku and the Nvidia Shield offer.

No official release date has been announced about the Apple TV 5, but all signs point to an October or November release with an announcement likely coming before that.
