Apple Rumored to be Adding Kids Mode, Screen Time to tvOS

Apple TV and RemoteA rumored update to Apple’s tvOS could allow for more parental controls and a “Kids Mode” that only allows children-friendly content. The Verifier says the new controls should allow parents to block access to TV shows and other content they deem not age-appropriate and gives them the ability to set viewing-duration restrictions via Screen Time.

The site also claims the upcoming tvOS 14 update should be released later this year, adding that a new Apple TV with increased onboard storage could also be in the works. Traditionally, Apple has discussed major updates to its various operating systems, including macOS, iOS, and iPadOS, during its Worldwide Developers Conference, or WWDC. However, the current coronavirus outbreak has led the company, and many others, to rework their major events into online-only affairs.

Last week, Apple unveiled a batch of new products via press release and updates to its site instead of its usual public unveilings, and the next Apple TV could follow a similar pattern if and when it’s released later this year.
