Apple Plans to Launch Their TV Streaming Service This Spring

For some time now, we have known that Apple was hard at work building a Netflix-like streaming service. According to a report from The Information, Apple plans to launch their on-demand streaming service by mid-April.

This is in line with other rumors that said Apple would launch the service this spring. It is said that Apple has deals in place from companies like HBO and STARZ to add some of their content to Apple’s new streaming service. Apple will also rely heavily on Apple original programming, which they have slowly been building up over the last few years.

Apple is reportedly planning to make the service available through their Apple TV app, meaning you will need an Apple device to access the content. The good news is there are reports that Apple plans to offer the content for free to Apple device owners.

At CES this year Apple announced deals with multiple TV manufacturers to add AirPlay to their TVs. This will allow iPhone and iPad owners to cast their videos to their TVs even if they do not own an Apple TV.

For now, we will have to wait until Apple officially announces their new service to learn more.
