Apple is one step closer to its 26.5 software updates, with the release of the fourth beta releases for iPadOS 26.5, watchOS 26.5, tvOS 26.5, and visionOS 26.5.
9to5 Mac reports that the beta 4 versions are now available to developers, with public beta releases expected this week. The focus of the update will be improved performance, but there are a few new features being tested as well.
From previous beta release notes, we know about a few new features in the works for the 26.5 update include updates for Messages, Apple Maps, and the App Store. Apple is beta testing end-to-end encryption for Messages, offering suggestions for nearby locations in the search field of Apple Maps, and annual subscriptions designed to offer the option of committing to a 12-month subscription broken into monthly payments.
Apple will officially unveil the latest update at June’s WWDC 2026 event. The event will begin with the Keynote and Platforms State of the Union on Monday, followed by an online conference with over 100 sessions.
“WWDC is one of the most exciting times for us at Apple because it’s a chance for our incredible global developer community to come together for an electrifying week that celebrates technology, innovation, and collaboration,” said Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations in a statement announcing the dates of the event. “We can’t wait to see many of you online and in person for what is sure to be one of our best WWDC events yet.”
