Apple is Holding a Product Announcement Event

Today Apple announced that they will hold an event to announce new products on October 30th, 2018. Early reports are that new iPads and Macs will be apart of this announcement.

So will we see any new cord cutting tech from Apple? Well, it is very unlikely we will see a new Apple TV yet it is possible we may get an update on their Apple TV app and maybe the long awaited Apple Originals. Reports are that Apple’s new streaming service will be free for owners of Apple products through their TV app. There is a small chance that Apple may be ready to announce more details about their Apple Original shows and movies.

According to reports, Apple is spending about $1 billion on content for their on-demand streaming service. This includes partnerships with stars like Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. According to CNBC, the new shows will be added to the Apple TV app that is currently built into iOS devices.

As for Windows and Android owners, you may be out of luck. So far there have been no reports of Apple looking to offer their service outside of their devices. Yet it is possible they will offer a paid version for non-Apple device owners. As best we can tell Apple is hoping their TV service will push the sale of more Apple devices.

A few weeks ago The Wall Street Journal published a report from inside Apple’s team that is building their new Netflix competitor. According to that team, Apple’s new streaming service will be bland and is being called an “expensive NBC.”

According to Apple’s staff, CEO Tim Cook is trying to keep the content clean with little “gratuitous sex, profanity or violence.” According to reports, Cook personally shot down Apple’s first scripted drama Vital Signs about Dr. Dre after he watched an already-filmed show and was alarmed to see cocaine, an orgy, and drawn guns.
