Earlier this week, it was reported that in addition to a software redesign for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, Apple TVs and Apple Watches will also be getting an update. While details are thin leading up to Apple’s WWDC event on June 9, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says that the update will create consistency across Apple devices and will be inspired by Apple’s Vision Pro’s visionOS.
According to another report from Bloomberg, in addition to the design updates to create consistency, Apple is also looking for consistency in the way its operating systems are named. Rather than adding to the number of each update, the company will reportedly be naming each update by year.
The report says that Apple will be naming updates based on the year after the update is released. So, we’ll be seeing tvOS26 soon.
We’ll likely get more information about the name update, along with a look at the new streamlined design elements of Apple software at the event.
Apple’s WWDC presentation is scheduled for Monday, June 9 and will kick off with a keynote address at 1 p.m. ET. You can watch live on the Apple WWDC website.
