Antenna TV Announces a Deal to Add More Over-the-Air TV Markets

Antenna TV is an over-the-air TV network that airs classic TV from the 1950s through the 1990s including shows such as “Family Ties,” “The Jeffersons,” and “All in the Family.” It currently covers about 80% of US households with 114 full power affiliates and 27 low power affiliates.

Antenna TV first launched on January 1, 2001, and is owned by Tribune Broadcasting located in Chicago. Overall Antenna TV is the fourth most popular digital sub channel in America behind only MyNetworkTV, Grit, and MeTV. Now it announced that it will be adding several new affiliates in 2017.

According to a press release Antenna TV will be added to the following:

The addition of these markets will bring Antenna TV coverage to 87% of US households and make Antenna TV the most widely available digital over-the-air TV network in the United States.

Based off of this success Tribune is reported to be looking at launching a sister station to Antenna TV called Antenna TV classics. It would focus on shows that aired before the 1950s.

Hopefully the success of Antenna TV and other networks such as MeTV and smaller newer networks such as the Justice Network will continue to help grow more over-the-air TV for cord cutters.
