An FCC Filing for New Roku Players Appeared Online Today

The evidence of a new Roku player is quickly piling up. Yesterday we reported that CinemaNow leaked a deal tied to a Roku 4. There was also a Roku 4K Channel that for a very short time appeared in the Roku Channel store before being quickly taken down.

Now Zatznotfunny.com is reporting that an FCC filing for new Roku players showed up online today. Dave Zatz said,

So we can now say for sure there are new Roku players and that they are likely to support 4K. Beyond that we know nothing. This very well could be a Roku 3 update to add 4K to go head to head with the new Fire TV or it could be a brand new Roku 4.

When we reached out to Roku they replied, “Thanks for reaching out. There’s no information to share at this time.”

This is all similar to what happened with the recent Fire TV release and leads us to believe that the Roku 4 will be announced this week or early next week because FCC filing usually is competed shortly before the official announcement.

When the new Roku players are announced we will have full coverage here and a special breaking news edition of “The Cord Cutting Show.”
