Americans Want to Pay $21 Total for Streaming Services

family with little girl sitting on couch watching tvA new poll from Hollywood Reporter/Morning Consult gives some insight into what people are currently paying for streaming media and what the ideal numbers would look like for viewers across America.

The Hollywood Reporter shared some results from that poll of 2200 adults in the US. The results showed that many Americans are subscribing to three streaming services and paying a total of $37 per month. However, those polled also said that they would like to be paying $17-27 total for all of their streaming services.

The same poll shows that US customers are paying more than $50 per month for cable TV packages.  Those who are paying for cable subscriptions list affordability and quality as the top two features they’re looking for in streaming services that would potentially pull them away from cable.

The poll also took a look at brand recognition for some of the upcoming streaming services. Of the four streaming services mentioned in the poll (Disney+, HBO Max, Apple TV+, and NBC’s streaming service) respondents noted that they had heard more about Disney+ than the others, with 13% saying they’ve heard a lot about the service and 26% saying they’ve heard some.

Now that we’re learning more about these new streaming services, including the price points and content we’ll see on each, the question is whether viewers will make room in their streaming service budget for one or more when they launch.

How much do you pay for your streaming services in total? Will you be adding one of the new services when they launch? Let us know in the comments!
