AMC Feels It Is “Well-Positioned” For Cord Cutting

AMC has been slowly becoming more cord cutting friendly. Now it seems the executives at AMC are working hard to offer its content to cord cutters.

“We think it’s really important to be wherever our passionate fans want to consume our content,” Bob Broussard, president of distribution for AMC Networks, said. “A lot of our industry-leading content does appeal to the younger demo, and they’re extremely passionate and a lot of them are mobile-first content viewers.”

This comment comes right after it was announced that AMC will be offering its content not only on Sling TV, PlayStation Vue, and DIRECTV NOW but also on YouTube TV, a new live TV streaming service available in five markets.

It has also been rumored for months that AMC is working on a live TV streaming service for its content; however, AMC has recently released a host of streaming services. Most noteably AMC partnered with the BBC to release BritBox, a subscription streaming service.

AMC also has ownership over the Shudder and Sundance Now streaming services, giving cord cutters who want specific content access to what they want.

Hopefully more cable networks will be as aggressive as AMC is with cord cutters.
