Amazon’s Twitch Streaming Service Is Launching a Singing Competition with a $20,000 Prize

Yesterday, Amazon’s Twitch streaming service announced a new singing competition that will let Twitch streamers compete for a $20,000 prize.

“Our hope is that Twitch Sings: Stream Star will create opportunities for a new group of stars to shine on Twitch,” said Kate Jhaveri, chief marketing officer. “There is so much talent on Twitch and the competition is a way for us to support the next wave of performers and make sure their talent is both rewarded and visible to a huge audience.”

Amazon has built a catalog of a thousand songs that streamers can use to make creative, one-of-a-kind performances together. Twitch viewers can request songs, cheer to activate light shows on stage, and send challenges for their favorite streamers to tackle. The final four singers will travel to TwitchCon Europe to perform in the finals for $20,000.
