Amazon’s Twitch Streaming Service is Coming to The Apple TV

Good news for Twitch fans! Amazon’s free Twitch streaming service is coming to the Apple TV. This was first spotted by the Apple Insider who noticed that Amazon has launched an official Twitch app on the Apple beta test program called TestFlight. It looks like Amazon released the app back on September 3rd and says they are testing in what should eventually become a public release.

Twitch was originally known as a place to watch live streams of video games. Now though it offers so much more including live Thursday Night NFL Games and a host of other programming. It seems Amazon is hoping to reach more subscribers by releasing Twitch on the Apple TV without the need to cast it to your Apple TV.

Here is how to add the official Twitch to your Apple TV:

  1. Install TestFlight on an iOS device and Apple TV where you can sign in to the same App Store account.
  2. Tap the public link on your iOS device.
  3. Tap Accept for the app you want to test.
  4. Open TestFlight on Apple TV. You must be signed in to the same App Store account you used on your iOS device.
  5. Install the app you want to test.

“We don’t want to be too prescriptive so explore the app, watch streams, and try out different features. If you find a bug, the app crashes on you, or you encounter other issues send us your feedback.” Twitch said in a statement on their site.

Hopefully, Twitch will also be returning to the Roku but we did not find any beta test for Twitch on Roku. For now, if you have the grandfathered Twitch Roku channel you can enjoy it until September 12, 2019.
