Amazon has introduced a new dedicated news section on Prime Video, positioning the streaming platform as a centralized location for live and on-demand news content in the United States. The feature, which began rolling out this week, places a prominent news destination directly on the Prime Video homepage and in the top navigation bar across supported devices.
The service aggregates hundreds of 24/7 news channels at no additional cost to viewers, including major linear streams such as ABC News Live, CBS News 24/7, LiveNOW from Fox, CNN Headlines, and NBC News NOW. Additional offerings cover local and regional stations, financial programming, global headlines, weather, sports updates, entertainment news, and Spanish-language channels. Notable channels already available include BBC News, Bloomberg TV+, FOX Weather, NBC Sports NOW, and Telemundo Al Día, with the total selection expected to exceed 200 channels by the end of the year.
The news hub is accessible to anyone with an Amazon account in the United States, regardless of Prime membership status, and works on thousands of connected televisions, streaming devices, game consoles, and mobile platforms where the Prime Video app is supported. Viewers can tune into ongoing broadcasts, catch up on recent segments, or browse scheduled programming without leaving the Prime Video interface.
In addition to the free channels, Prime Video continues to offer premium news and entertainment options through third-party subscriptions such as Peacock Premium Plus, Paramount+, and FOX One, which can be added directly within the platform.
Separately, Prime Video has added Sony Pictures Core as a subscription channel in the United States and Canada. The service provides access to a rotating selection of films and series from the Sony Pictures library.
Prime Video remains included with Amazon Prime memberships, priced at $14.99 per month or $139 per year, which also covers benefits such as free two-day shipping on eligible Amazon purchases. An ad-free viewing tier for movies and series is available for an additional fee, while discounted Prime plans exist for qualifying customers through programs like Prime Access and Prime for Young Adults.
The expansion into comprehensive news delivery marks another step in Amazon’s effort to make Prime Video a broader entertainment and information hub rather than solely an on-demand movie and series platform. By year-end, the company expects the news destination to be fully deployed to all U.S. users, providing a single interface for everything from breaking national stories and market updates to local broadcasts and specialized programming.
