Amazon’s New Free Streaming Service Is Now Available on Roku & Android

Yesterday Amazon launched a new free ad-supported streaming service called Freedive. This service runs through the Amazon-owned IMDb website. At launch, Amazon promoted the service as being available on Fire TVs and online. Now overnight Amazon updated their Roku channel to add free ad-supported movies.

You have to do some digging. These new free ad-supported TV shows and movies are hidden far down the Amazon Roku Channel. If you keep scrolling down, you will find an IMDb Freedive: Popular Movies and TV – Free with Ads section.

“Customers already rely on IMDb to discover movies and TV shows and decide what to watch,” said Col Needham, founder and CEO of IMDb. “With the launch of IMDb Freedive, they can now also watch full-length movies and TV shows on IMDb and all Amazon Fire TV devices for free. We will continue to enhance IMDb Freedive based on customer feedback and will soon make it available more widely, including on IMDb’s leading mobile apps.”

The service will also include hit TV shows Fringe, Heroes, The Bachelor and Without a Trace as well as top Hollywood movies like Awakenings, Foxcatcher, Memento, Monster, Run Lola Run, The Illusionist, The Last Samurai, and True Romance without purchasing a subscription.

Update it looks like Freedive is also now live on the Amazon Prime Video Android app.
