Amazon’s New Fire TV Remote Will Have Quick Buttons

At CES Amazon announced a new line of Fire TV powered smart TVs. Now they have cleared through FCC approval and we get a new look at what they will look like.

AFTVnews.com found the listing and found something interesting about the remote. It seems they will be copying the Roku remotes quick buttons. The Alexa Voice Remote for the new TVs will have a dedicated Netflix button, along with dedicated Prime Video and Amazon Music buttons, which are all a first for Amazon’s Alexa remote.

The quick button for Netflix will likely launch the Netflix app when pressed just as it does on the Roku remotes. For now this seems to be the only non Amazon button on the remote. Well this is the Westinghouse version it is expected that Seiki and Element versions of the Fire TV built smart TVs will also include quick buttons.

Although only the Westinghouse Fire TV Edition televisions have gone through FCC that does not mean they will come out anytime soon. Though we do expect them sometime this spring or summer of 2017.
