The launch window opens up at 2 p.m. ET. The launch had been delayed several times, including from last week, due to factors like weather.

Today’s launch is part of an initial test of Project Kuiper. If the test is successful, Amazon plans to mass produce the satellites and launch them starting next year. Project Kuiper would join SpaceX’s Starlink as another provider of satellite-based internet connection.
