Amazon’s Free Streaming Service Freevee Will Add 100+ Amazon Originals To Help Grow its Catalog of Free TV Shows & Movies

Earlier today, Amazon announced that it would be bringing some of its Amazon Prime original shows and movies to its free streaming service Freevee. With Freevee you already find thousands of on-demand movies and TV shows, plus over 300 live channels for free.

Now Amazon says you will find over 100 Amazon Originals being added to Freevee from Amazon’s Prime Video’s catalog of content in 2023.

These new Amazon Original titles will include Reacher, The Summer I Turned Pretty, The Wheel of Time, Troop Zero, A League of Their Own, LuLaRich, and Late Night.

This move is very similar to how Paramount has used Pluto TV to help promote Paramount+. Now it seems that Amazon wants to use its originals on Freevee to help attract new customers to signup for Amazon Prime by teasing them with some of the free content in hopes that they will signup to watch more.

Amazon Freevee is facing a growing number of competitors. Plex, The Roku Channel, Pluto TV, Local Now, Red Box, Crackle, and so many others all offer free ad-supported movies, Television shows, and live TV. Now Amazon hopes that by adding Amazon Originals, it can help Freevee stand out from the competition.

Amazon Freevee is available on Fire TV, Fire Tablets, and as a free Channel within Prime Video. Freevee is also available as an app on Roku, Samsung smart TVs (2017-2021 models), Comcast’s Xfinity Flex, Xfinity X1, Chromecast with Google TV, NVIDIA SHIELD and other Android TV devices, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles, as well as LG Smart TVs (2018-2021 models). The app is also available on iPhone, iPad and Android mobile devices.
