Today at the Pay-TV Show Jen Prenner, GM and Global Head of Marketing, Growth & Engagement for the Amazon Fire TV announced that the Amazon Fire TV now has more than 34 million active accounts. This is up from 30 million active users that were announced back in January 2019. This comes after Roku announced they have topped 29.1 million active accounts in the 1st quarter of 2019.

Amazon has been in a tough battle with Roku, Apple, and Google for streaming dominance. Although many of these streaming players are sold at cost or close to it, manufacturers do so as they get a cut of the ads and sales made on the device.

Amazon also announced that the Fire TV offers access to over 500,000 movies and TV episodes, along with tens of thousands of apps.

Amazon is not showing any signs of slowing down. Last year Amazon announced a new 4K version of the streaming stick and a DVR for antennas built for the Fire TV. Look for Amazon to continue to try and dominate the streaming market as they grow on their recent success.
