Amazon’s Echo Devices Can Now Make Free Phone Calls

Looking to save money on a home phone? You can now make phone calls to the United States, Canada, and Mexico 100% free with no extra hardware needed with your Echo device.

Amazon recently started to update its Echo devices with Alexa to allow for the calling of phone contacts. To set up the feature, you need to go into your Alexa app and select the conversations tab. It will give your Alexa the ability to access your phone contacts. From there you will be asked to verify your phone number via text message and you are all set.

You will be able to ask Alexa to call anyone in your contact list and make a quick, free phone call. It’s perfect for group calls or anytime you want a speakerphone. You will also be able to spell out a number for anything not in your phone’s contacts.

Anyone you call from your Alexa will see your cell phone number as the callback number, which makes it easy for them to return your phone call if you miss them.

Some numbers, such as 1-900s and 911, will still need the new adapter to work but calling friends and family can now be done on Alexa.
