Yesterday AFTVnews.com reported that Amazon is working on a Fire TV version of its Silk browser. The Silk browser is what you will find if you use a Fire Tablet. If you side load the Fire Tablet Silk browser on your Fire TV you will find a custom-made instruction guide for the Fire TV.
That means you will be able to fully use the Silk browser with your Fire TV remote—no need for a keyboard or mouse.
A web browser will give the Fire TV an option that Roku and Apple TV devices do not offer, helping it stand out in an ever competitive market of streaming media players.
The app seems to be fairly far along, and it is likely that Amazon employees are already testing the browser in some type of beta version of the Fire TV OS.
This is not the only change coming to the Fire TV. Recently we learned that Amazon is in the process of adding a recommendations row to the home screen. This will work similar to how the Android TV recommendations row works, allowing apps to suggest content to the home screen.
