Amazon Is Working on a 2nd Gen Fire TV Smart TV

Back in January 2017 Amazon announced the Fire TV edition smart TVs. Now it looks like they are hard at work on a new line of 2nd gen Fire TV edition smart TVs.

Yesterday AFTVnews announced they found hidden in this week’s Fire TV software update a list of new Fire TV devices and code names. As best we can tell in this list for Amazon devices was a new code name and device called Keira. Now this is an internal code name and according to AFTVnews this Keira device is in a group called “AmazonStandaloneFireTelevisionsGen2.”

Hopefully the new 2nd gen Fire TV edition smart TV will include HDR support because currently the Fire TV edition smart TVs lack 4K HDR support.

That is all we know, but it is likely we will get an official announcement next month at CES 2018.

Cord Cutters News will be at CES 2018 and plans to have full coverage of all the latest news from the conference including any announcements coming from Amazon.
