Amazon Will Now Tell You if a Product is Something Buyers Typically Keep or Something They Often Return

Amazon

Back in March, Amazon began displaying a warning message about frequently returned items as it looked to warn consumers and head off exchanges. Now, the retail giant is adding a badge that tells you if an item is something people typically keep helping you decide if this something you want to keep or something you want to return.

Returns are becoming a major issue for retailers like Amazon. Over the last few years, returns have dramatically increased during pandemic lockdowns, and once returned often the items can no longer be sold again. With every company tightening their belt, Amazon is looking to reduce the expense of product exchanges.

Here is what the new message looks like:

This badge is not on all listings yet, and it seems Amazon is slowly rolling it out. Here is a listing with one of these badges on it for a kids’ headphone with a microphone.

This new feature will hopefully nudge sellers to improve their products and services, with the “frequent returns” notice likely scaring away customers, and a “keep” notice giving them more confidence.

These messages could have a major impact on Amazon’s push to significantly decrease the amount of unsatisfied customers and frustrating return rates.

An Amazon spokesman wasn’t immediately available to comment on the rollout of this notice.
