Amazon signAds on streaming services and streaming players have become a huge market one Roku has recently dominated. Now according to the Wallstreet Journal Amazon wants to expand its ad sales form the Fire TV to a growing list of connected devices including the Apple TV, Android TV, Xbox, and PlayStation.

According to reports programmers like CNN, Discovery, and A&E, and streaming services like Pluto TV and Tubi are already working with Amazon to sell ads. Now Amazon wants to expand its footprint to help them with ads on a growing number of devices.

Traditional pay-TV advertising still dominates but increasingly online ads on streaming services like Pluto TV are getting a bigger piece of advertising dollars. With the growth of online streaming and the fall of traditional pay-TV, we are likely going to see more of that traditional ad spending move from pay-TV to online streaming services.

This move to streaming as created a gold rush of sorts as advertisers try to figure out how to cash in on what is expected to be a billion-dollar business.

Roku now makes a majority of its money not from selling streaming players but from ads and subscription sales. Now we are seeing Amazon looking at that success and trying to make sure they get a piece of that growing market.

With streaming still being a very young industry, the market is really open for anyone to win. The question now is who will win the battle to be the Google of OTT ad sales.
