Amazon Wants to Be Your Cellphone Provider

Today it was reported by Reuters that Amazon has expressed interest in buying Boost Mobile to start selling wireless services.

According to reports Amazon wants to buy Boost mainly for its wholesale deal that would allow Amazon to have access to T-Mobile’s wireless network for at least six years, one of the sources told Reuters. Amazon would also be interested in any wireless spectrum that could be divested Reuters report.

It was recently reported that the Department of Justice wants a 4th major phone company if it would approve a T-Mobile Sprint merger. An Amazon run phone service could be that 4th competitor the Department of Justice is looking for.

For now, these are only reports of Amazon expressing interest. This is still for from a done deal.
