Amazon & Walmart Plan to Expand Same-Day Deliver

Do you ever need something that day and see it cheaper online but go and buy it in a store because you want it today, even if it costs more? Amazon and Walmart are hoping to become that place you go to even when you need it today.

To do this, Amazon is expanding its same-day delivery by opening more same-day delivery warehouses. Over the last few years, Amazon has opened 45 sites dedicated to same-day deliveries. Now Amazon says they could expand that to 150 sites offering the same day, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.

Amazon is not alone in this fight Walmart has also announced plans to expand its private fleet development program. This program lets Walmart workers apply to the company’s Associate-to-Drive program and earn a commercial driver’s license after a 12-week training program.

Walmart is hoping to take Amazon on by offering more same-day options than Amazon can. Walmart is using its vast network of stores to act as warehouses for its delivery program. This ability to already have massive warehouses close to customers is hoped to be the key to the future of Walmart’s e-commerce efforts.

As Americans are returning to stores after going online in 2020, Walmart and Amazon are now once again needing to convince people to buy online. It seems the goal of same-day delivery is going to be one of the ways they try to convince you to spend money online instead of in stores.

Would same-day deliveries make you more likely to shop online?
