Amazon Video is Now Available in The Google Play Store

Today Amazon added their Amazon Video app to The Google Play Store. No longer do you need to sideload it or use the Amazon Underground app. You can now just simply add it through the official Google Play Store.

Currently, the Amazon Video app only works on phones and tablets no official Android TV support. (Except the Nvidia Shield where it now comes preloaded.) Unfortunately, even though Prime Video is now in the Play Store, the app still does not include Chromecast support. So if you want to watch Amazon Video on your big screen you need a Roku, Fire TV, etc.

Amazon has also announced plans to add their video app to the Apple TV at some point. At first, it was reported that this would happen in the summer of 2017 but reports are now out that it may be delayed.

Amazon Video has been available in many regions in the Google Play Store for a few months now. The US has been the exception for some time now. We are not sure when it was added but it seems to have happened in the past several days, Amazon has quietly made the app available in the United States.
