Recently Amazon added a new set of audio tracks to a growing list of movies and TV shows. These audio tracks are called Audio Description and allow visually impaired users to get an audio play by play of what is happening on the screen.
You will still get the full regular audio with all the dialog you would expect, but now you also get additional audio to make it easier to follow along.
For many, this may not seem like an important option, but for the estimated 10 million Americans who suffer from some form of visual impairment, this is great news. It opens up a world of content to millions of people around the world who would otherwise struggle to follow along.
If you would like to enable this feature when starting a movie, you can find this option in the subtitle menu on the Amazon Prime Video app.
In the past these special audio description versions of movies had been special order. It is now great to see services such as Amazon including them as part of the standard subscription service. Not all movies support this, but it seems Amazon has a growing list of movies including Star Trek Beyond.
