Amazon is Updating The Fire TV to Promote Live TV

Today Amazon announced that they have started rolling out an update for the Fire TV to promote discovery of live TV and even the ability to tune into live channels with Alexa. This new section is called “On Now” and will promote live TV from services you are signed into including Cinemax, Showtime, Starz, and Cinemax if you subscribe to them through Amazon Channels.

Amazon is also rolling out a guide that will let you see what is live across all of your Amazon Channels subscriptions. Allowing you to easily see what is on HBO at the same time you see what is live on CBS All Access.

Here a few voice commands to try:

For some time now we have heard how Amazon wants to use their Channels Service to create an a la carte type TV service. Well, they have faced pushback from many providers, slowly services like CBS All Access, HBO, and more have all joined up with the Amazon Channels Service.

With Amazon Channels Prime members are able to use Amazon to manage your subscription to the to a growing list of services through the Amazon app. With Amazon Channels you can subscribe to multiple services with one login and one billing. Not only that but now you can use your Amazon app across a long list of devices without the need to install multiple apps to access your content. Amazon hopes this service will become the go-to service for Prime Members who want access to HBO, Showtime, CBS All Access, Starz, and more.
