According to reports Amazon is in the middle of talks with some big networks, including AMC and ESPN. This was reported by Motley Fool and confirmed by both networks in their respective fourth quarter earnings calls. Now there is new reports Amazon is once again trying.
Amazon has been effort to take on live TV streamers like Sling TV and Sony’s PlayStation Vue started as far back as at least October of 2015, and there have been hints along the way that the e-commerce juggernaut has plans far beyond its Prime Instant Video offering.
It seems Amazon is trying two different approaches first a traditional skinny bundle with a group of channels for a set price. Yet it seems Amazon also wants to do more of a a la carte option. According to reports Amazon is asking networks to join their Amazon Channels program and allow Prime members to subscribe by the channel, similar to how you can do with HBO.
This would be the closest cord cutters have come to an a la carte type system allowing you to pick what channels you would want. This would bethe dream deal for Amazon if they could get networks to agree to allow subscribers to just pay for AMC or ESPN if that is what they want.
For now no official announcement has been made and no date, price, or other details are known at this time.
