Amazon Has Started Testing a 4K HDR Fire TV

We have heard rumors for some time now that a 4K HDR Fire TV was in the works for this fall. Now we have more confirmation that a new Fire TV is almost here.

Yesterday AFTVnews found an Amazon test app for the Fire TV. This test app came from Lab126.com, Amazon’s research group that develops a wide range of apps for Amazon. This new test app tests out 4K HDR streaming on the Fire TV.

Elias over at AFTVnews did some more digging and found out that the app was streaming a YouTube video from an account owned by Jonathan Fisher. Jonathan Fisher is a quality assurance manager at Amazon’s Lab126.

From the looks of it Amazon is in the final stages of testing 4K HDR streaming. We still don’t have a set date for a new Fire TV, but fall 2017 is starting to look likely for at least an announcement that it is coming. Amazon is likely getting ready to roll out a new device in time for the 2017 Christmas season.
