Amazon Sold “Millions” of Alexa Devices Over The Weekend

Did you buy a Fire TV or some other Alexa powered device over the weekend? Well, you are not alone as millions of Americans purchased a device that includes Amazon Alexa.

According to Amazon the Echo Dot and Amazon Fire TV Stick was the best selling Alexa powered device. Not only that but the Fire TV Stick and Echo Dot were the best-selling products from any manufacturer in any category across all of Amazon.com. Amazon went on to say that they sold 2.7x as many Fire TV Stick as they did last year at the same price.

(Note: Amazon still has the 2nd Gen Echo Dot on sale for $29.99.)

“Customers purchased millions of Amazon’s Alexa-enabled devices this weekend, and Alexa devices were the top sellers across all of Amazon,” said Dave Limp, Senior Vice President, Amazon Devices & Services. “We’re excited that tens of millions of customers around the world will be using Alexa to prepare for the holidays.”

Amazon is continuing to dominate the world of smart speakers with their Alexa powered devices. Apple is jumping into the space but has delayed plans to launch their smart speaker. Google is already in the market with a growing lineup of smart speakers. Others like Roku are rumored to be looking at jumping into the smart speaker space. For now, though Amazon is the clear leader in the world of Smart Speakers.
