Amazon Sees The Fire TV as More Than just a Streaming Player

Today at the Pay TV Show Jennifer Prenner the GM and Global Head of Marketing, Growth & Engagement for the Amazon Fire TV joined a panel at the Pay-TV show. According to Jennifer Prenner Amazon sees the Fire TV as much more than a streaming media player.

According to Jennifer Prenner, one of the main goals of the Fire TV is to not stream your favorite show but to in a sense be the hub of your living room.  According to this talk, Amazon wants to continue to expand the Fire TV as a way to control your smart home. From seeing who is at your front door thanks to your Ring Doorbell to changing the temp in your house.

Now streaming is still a main goal for the Fire TV. Amazon, for example, uses the data it gathers from Amazon Prime Video to make more suggestions for what people may also want to watch. So Amazon is still working hard to make streaming an important part of the Fire TV but from the sounds of it look for Amazon to continue to work on making the Fire TV more than just a streaming media player.
