Amazon Rebrands the Fire TV 3 As the Fire TV Pendant

Ever since the new Fire TV came out late last year there has been confusion about what it is. Officially Amazon listed it as the Fire TV 3rd generation, often calling it the Fire TV 3 for short.

Yet there has been debate among Fire TV fans over whether it is a box or a stick streaming player. Amazon seemed to lean on the side of this being their new box; however, many fans have pushed that the new Fire TV 3 was really the 3rd gen Fire TV Stick.

To help confuse things even more, recent leaked photos show Amazon working on a more traditional set-top box with a built-in Amazon Echo. This has led many to argue that the Fire TV 3 was really just a stick and a box was on the way.

It seems like Amazon has decided to put these arguments to rest by rebranding the Fire TV 3 as the Fire TV Pendant.

When you visit Amazon and look up the Fire TV 3, you find “All-New Fire TV with 4K Ultra HD and Alexa Voice Remote (Pendant Design).” This seems to be an effort to put to rest the confusion over what the Fire TV 3 is.
