Amazon Prime Video Launches Viewer Profiles

Amazon is rolling out a viewer profile feature, allowing up to six people to manage their profile under each Prime Video account. With a viewer profile, you can track your viewing progress, manage a personal watch list, and get personalized recommendations.

With the update, kids’ profiles can also be added, with parental controls and content limited to shows and movies deemed appropriate for those under 12 years old. The primary profile needs to be an adult profile, while the remaining five can be set for adults or children.

XDA Developers was first to spot the new profile option, which is currently only available on mobile devices, Fire TV, and on the web in “select countries” according to the Amazon support page. It looks like the US is not yet included on that list, but we’ll keep an eye out for news about this feature expanding to more countries, including the US.

The update is coming at the best possible time, with many viewers spending more time at home over the coming weeks. Amazon has been making many early digital release movies available for rent or to buy. With viewer profiles, everyone in the family can set up their own unique profile to keep track of what they’re watching and to get recommendations for what to watch next based on viewing habits.
