Amazon has rolled out a significant update to its Prime Video app, now available on a wide range of devices, including smart TVs, mobile devices, Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, and gaming consoles. The update introduces enhanced playback controls, giving users unprecedented flexibility to customize their viewing experience. The new features allow viewers to decide whether to skip to the next video, bypass credits, or watch them in full, addressing long-standing user feedback about autoplay and credit visibility.
The centerpiece of the update is a revamped playback interface that presents users with clear, on-screen options at the end of each episode or movie. By default, the app will automatically skip to the next video after a brief countdown, catering to binge-watchers who prefer a seamless transition. However, users can now actively choose to skip credits immediately by clicking a “Skip Credits” button or opt to watch the credits in full by selecting a prominently displayed “Watch Credits” button. This granular control ensures that viewers who enjoy post-credit scenes or appreciate the work of cast and crew can do so without interruption, while others can move on quickly.
The update responds to years of user complaints, where viewers expressed frustration over autoplay interrupting post-credit scenes or credits being minimized too quickly. Previously, disabling autoplay required navigating complex settings menus, often only accessible via a web browser. Now, the in-app options make these choices intuitive and immediate, available on every supported device.
Amazon continues to expand Prime Video’s offerings, with exclusive 2025 titles like Out of Sight and live events like Thursday Night Football, making these user-friendly enhancements timely.
