Amazon Prime to Exclusively Stream 21 Yankees Games

Amazon is looking to step up to the plate by making 21 Yankees games exclusively available to stream on their Prime Video platform, according to a report by Andrew Marchand of the New York Post. Marchand’s report states that the games will mostly be on Friday nights. The first game takes place on Friday, April 22, when the Cleveland Guardians travel to Yankee Stadium in an American League matchup.

In 2021, the Yankees’ deal with Amazon was for 21 simulcast games, allowing fans to watch on broadcast affiliates and Prime Video for those in-market. Now, 21 games will exclusively be available on Prime Video.

Marchand confirmed the details about who will be able to view the games:

To be as clear as possible, these games will not be on YES or any other service. Only Amazon Prime Video. They will be only available in the Yankees’ local footprint, which is primarily in the New York tri-state region. These are the games that used to be on Ch. 11.

YES and Amazon declined to comment on Marchand’s report.

In addition to the games exclusively available on Prime Video, the Yankees will have 2 Friday night games streaming on Apple TV+ within the first 12 weeks of the season, on April 29 and June 3.

Fans who do not live within the Yankees’ local market should be able to watch the game and other out-of-market games on MLB.TV, though without comment from YES or Amazon, that hasn’t yet been confirmed. With Opening Day approaching on April 7, this is the perfect time to lock in your subscription to MLB.TV at its 2021 promotional price for a limited time.
