Amazon Paid $18 Million in Royalties to Independent Filmmakers in 2017

For years independent filmmakers have struggled to find outlets for their content. While YouTube and others may have offered a place for the movies to be seen many often hoped for a place to truly profit from their content.

Now it looks like Amazon is becoming that place and is even pulling content creators away from YouTube. Amazon announced that in 2017 they paid out $18 million in royalties to independent filmmakers.

Here is one example of a YouTube creator’s move to Amazon:

Amazon has made it clear they want to take on YouTube and now lets video uploaders add ads to support their content for non-prime members. This opens Amazon video content for free to non-Prime members too enjoy. If you are a Prime member, you can access the content ad-free.

Now independent filmmakers have a new option to not only have their content seen but also to earn a profit from it.
