Even Amazon Prime subscribers aren’t spared from rising rates for Amazon Music Unlimited service.
The company raised the price of its service for Prime subscribers by $1 to $9.99 a month. This follows a similar price increase that Amazon made in January that raised the non-Prime rate to $10.99 a month. Back then, the student rate also rose by $1 to $5.99.
Amazon is just the latest company to raise rates as the cost of pretty much everything has gone up. Just last week, Disney said it would raise the rates of its various streaming services, and YouTube TV raised its rates back in March. On the music front, Spotify and YouTube Music Premium both raised their rates to $10.99 last month, while Apple Music hit that mark last year.
The Amazon Music Unlimited rate will go up on September 19 for existing subscribers, but new customers will see the rate immediately.
Customers who signed up with a promotional offer won’t see a change until the promo period ends.
Amazon has used its Prime subscription to bundle in different services like music and video, but even the cost of Prime went up last year from $119 to $139.
