Amazon Is Making Big Changes to Their Original Content

It looks as though Amazon is making some big changes to its original shows and movies.

According to reports from Variety Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos wants Amazon to bring him “Game of Thrones.” No, Amazon does not really want “Game of Thrones.” What it wants is a must-watch hit show.

Amazon still lags behind companies such as HBO, Netflix, and even Hulu now with “The Handmaid’s Tale” for original must-watch TV. According to reports Jeff Bezos wants to fix that by diving deeper into dramas that it thinks will stand up to “House of Cards,” “Game of Thrones,” and “The Handmaid’s Tale.”

This move likely explains Amazon’s canceling season two of “Z: The Beginning of Everything” and Amazon’s recent announcement that it will scrap its pilot shows in favor of buying more high-quality shows straight to production.

Amazon sees Prime Video as a way to sell more products by making Prime an even better deal. Now it seems as though it wants to use Prime Video as a way to sell Prime subscriptions in the hopes that you will also buy more goods on Amazon at a future date.

For cord cutters this is a win-win. Even if you do not subscribe to Prime, the higher quality of its content will likely push others to invest more in content. If you do subscribe to Prime you are about to get better shows and movies.
